是否记得我们昨天报道过的万年钟传奇？由恒今基金会（Long Now Foundation）主持建造的这一超越千年的项目之宗旨在于传播长线思维，而长线思维的一大特点就是从长远的视角对问题细斟慢酌，近年来产生的慢活运动（The Slow Movement）就是其中一个例证。其后，由慢活逐渐演化出来的慢食运动（Slow Food），则是希望将人们带回本地化生产、有机食品的传统当中。
美国最近还诞生了一个叫“慢钱联盟”（Slow Money Alliance）的组织，通过发起慢钱运动，唤醒人们对于金钱使用的觉悟，亦即把金钱花在最值得花的地方（英文里头有句俗语是 put your money where your mouth is，这里可以说是 putting your investment where your dinner is），且看《时代》杂志对他们的描述：
